4.0 out of 5 stars English Phrasal Verbs in Use - Intermediate, 9 Feb 2010
This review is from: English Phrasal Verbs in Use Intermediate (Professional English in Use) (Paperback)
An excellent product for both student and teacher. Good format and layout. Exercises are contained within each section to enhance and develop learning objectives. I would recommend that students learning English should be of Upper Intermediate standard before purchasing this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to get tied in knots!, 22 Mar 2013

This review is from: English Phrasal Verbs in Use Intermediate (Professional English in Use) (Paperback)
English is one of the most confusing languages because it isn't just one language. If you are not a native speaker, then usually you start learning the language from books and articles which give you an insight into the more formal aspects of English which are derived from Latin (the Romans) or French (1066 and all that). However, as soon as you arrive in England (or any other English-speaking country), you soon realise that you don't understand a word! Why? Spoken English is derived from the ancient peoples of pre-Roman Britain, the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings who settled amongst us. Many of these words are short and linked to adverbs and prepositions to create different meanings, both literal and metaphorical. This book gives you all the most important phrasal verbs and is essential to understand our beautiful spoken language.

This book is very good if you want to practise a difficult area of English. Phrasal verbs are very common in spoken language and informal writing and to learn is a must. I suggest another book is Phrasal Verb Organiser by John Flower.

This is a very interesting book aimed to learn the use of phrasal verb, perhaps, the most difficult part of the English language for non-English speakers.
