This aid to reading the first two books of the Aeneid provides a much fuller understanding of Virgil's great epic. The introduction is very readable and informative, providing many insights into the historical, literary and mythological background. The Latin text is complemented with annotations, explanations of difficult words and help with word order so that the whole work becomes much more accessible to the student or interested reader of Latin. There are vocabulary lists, a full glossary and more besides. Lastly, it is printed on high quality paper and sturdily bound. Well worth the price. I hope to see books III - XII produced in the same format.

Excellent accompaniment to text for Aeneid books one and two. Lots of detail, plenty of discussion of literary terms such as asyndeton and syncope, and help with scansion. There is also a good background section to the history behind the Aeneid, both from an historical standpoint and a literary one.
