5.0 out of 5 stars very interesting, 19 July 2007
This review is from: Mechanics of the Cell (Paperback)
I started this book as a total layman in biomechanics, but as an aeronautical engineer just curious at how classical ideas of strength of materials etc could be applied to biology. I came across this book by "luck" and I have been very impressed with it. It features very clear illustrations (I love the parallels of "large structures to small cellular ones"), good style and very informative contents. I don't think I will ever have to apply this in my professional career but it opened my eyes to what others are doing with tools similar to those used in classical mechanical engineering. Very very good read, thanks Mister Boal. And I see there is a new book by Ethier on "biomechanics" (Cambridge Univ. Press too), I think I will order it just by sheer curiosity. Amazing what these guys do !
