5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible
For several years now He Li's book has been invaluable. Great scholarship and over 700 beautiful colour photographs make this a must have. It covers the full range from Neolithic to Qing.

3.0 out of 5 stars A missed opportunity
Typography poor considering the nature of the subject material. The content if fine but the book is not as well illustrated as I had anticipated and so of limited value.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, 16 July 2013

This review is from: Chinese Ceramics: The New Standard Guide (Paperback)
A very large heavy package from Amazon was delivered this afternoon. I couldn't figure out what it might be as I had only ordered a book. Inside was indeed the book I ordered, a hefty tome with 352 pages and the most wonderful images all printed on quality glossy paper. What inspired me to buy it was a BBC programme presented by Lars Tharp called "China in Six Easy pieces" in which he chose and described 6 pieces from the vast collection of Percival David, housed at The British Museum. As a student of ceramics I have looked at the work of many British and European potters, but never taken much interest in the history of Chinese ceramics. This book covers from the Neolithic to the Qing Dynasty. It will take months if not years to read and is a must have book for anyone interested in beautiful ceramics.
