Boardman's books on Greek Art provide an excellent resource, not only for Art or Art History students but also for the A Level Classical Civilisation student looking for some excellent alternative opinions. This book is no exception and is particularly useful as far as content is concerned. The photographs and drawings are all very clear and the content is both suitably detailed and easily accesible.

John Boardman provides another erudite and detailed volume in The World of Art series. Printed on glossy paper and containing more than 400 b&w photos this volume is an essential starting point and useful overview of 5th century BC Classical Greek sculpture. Chronologically treated with extra chapters on Olympia, the Parthenon, signed names, techniques, and copies. There is also an extensive bibliography for further reading and index. In my opinion, the best and most readable volume in the series.

Clear and concise, Sir Boardman represnents an accurate and useful overview of classical greek sculpture. This is one of the necessary books for any student of classical archaeology or ancient art written by one of the world's authorities on classical archaeology.
