Having been to the exhibition at the Royal Academy i was really looking forward to owning the catalogue, especially as the book is in a large square format just right for capturing the large scale of Hockney's landscape paintings. Unfortunately the colour printing is a real let down, some the paintings are unrecognizable from the ones i saw at the exhibition. The pictures have a blue/grey wash over them, as you can see if you compare them to the same paintings reproduced in the "Just Nature" cataloque. As a result the picture are darker, less bright and detail is lost.
Another disappointment is that all the watercolour paintings are only reproduced tiny on one double page spread.
At this price they really should be able to get it right!
