An extremely interesting book. Not so much about the woman Elizabeth but about the world she inhabited. It helps to put into context the life that the rich and noble lived at the time, why they built such lavish palaces. An absolute must for any student of the period.

A lovely book, entertaining and colourful, with some beautiful colour plates of the fantastic costumes worn by Elizabeth I. Plenty of interesting detail about the life and times.
I almost expect some of these fantastic portraits to speak!
