4.0 out of 5 stars Complete but a bit old fashioned..., 12 Feb 2010

This book is very good in that it reviews most stories / myths related to forests and trees but it is a bit old-fashioned (the language used is slightly archaic) and should definitely be taken within its post-colonial background (as the contemporary readers might perceive some of the author's "ideas" as verging on racism). The only disappointment is that many myths are retold in about 2 sentences and you feel like asking "So?" or "And?". A good book if you wish to start investigating "The Forest in Folklore and Mythology" (it does what it says on the tin).
