This review is from: Cleopatra's Kidnappers: How Caesar's Sixth Legion Gave Egypt to Rome and Rome to Caesar (Hardcover)
Dando Collins can certainly write in a way that is both informative and entertaining. Sadly, much (though not all) of his information is mere conjecture and imagination that is at best uncorroborated by the source material and at worst blatantly contradicts it. What make this worse is that the uninformed reader will be unable to detect the wheat from the considerable chaff. Dando Collins should stick to fiction.

This review is from: Cleopatra's Kidnappers: How Caesar's Sixth Legion Gave Egypt to Rome and Rome to Caesar (Hardcover)
It is a very interesting and extremely enjoyable work. But one has the sensation to be reeding a novel, and sometimes it is very clear that deductions are treated as facts.
I have no doubt about the author's research, but some notes would not avoid the pleasure to read this historical adventures and would be very useful.
