I recently purchased a G11 and bought this book at the same time, as I really don't like reading manuals that are supplied with electronics - least of all manuals that are supplied on CD. The first 2 or 3 chapters are a useful reference alternative to the supplied manual, and to be honest it's hard to get excited about "reference". However there are useful tips dotted throughout those initial chapters. The latter chapters cover various photo situations, and how to bet use the features of the camera. Lastly, the appendix details a lot of the accessories available for the camera.
The book touts itself as suitable for beginners, but I felt that there were a lot of technical terms used before being explained from very early on - but then again, this is supposed to be a reference manual for the camera, rather than an introduction to photography.
Size-wise, it claims to be ideal to put in your gear bag, but I'm not sure I agree with that (unless your compact G11 is being packed in a larger bag with other cameras).
