As expected, a great book. I had no computer experience and this publication led me through the most important aspects of snow leopard to give me a perfect base for getting started. As Bob says, the book cannot tell you everything, it'd have to be a foot thick, but for those starting out i couldn't recommend it enough.

Anyone new to Macs should buy this book. It's easy to dip in and out of to find immediate answers to a problem. By doing a little bit of reading I solved a computer/printer issue - Apple were unable to do this, as were Hewlett Packard. So well done The Missing Manual Team.

After years on Windows, I took the plunge and invested in the awesome Macbook. The problem was, it was like starting from scratch and having to learn a completely new way of working and surfing. After several hours browsing I decided Mac OS X Snow Leopard for Dummies was the best bet and I seem to gave made the right choice. The book is easy to follow, either from page one and read as and educational tool, or like me, use the index and learn about what you want - when you want. There were several things I needed to know straight away and this book came up with the solutions I needed within minutes. So, if like me, you're a novice to the joys of a Macbook and OS X then invest a few £'s and buy this book. It'll get you kick-started in the right direction and become an invaluble tool for future referance.

I have to say I was a little disappointed by just how basic this book was. I got my Mac about 6 months ago and there are a few things, coming from a PC background, that just don't seem to be as slick as I'm sure they should be. As I browse through the book it really tells me the obvious stuff I can see right away for myself. If there's any depth at all to OS X I still haven't found it - maybe that *is* the answer or maybe a US or Apple Dummy is just dumber (sorry, less technical) than the average gate post.
The tone and language used, like some jolly professor-type who probably wears a bow tie, soon grates. It reminded me of the office bore who's always cheerful but who you have to control a strong urge to thump. Anyway, if you've never seen a computer before, and you're, like eighty, this is probably just the book for you. Otherwise, there have to be better options out there.

The book is excellent but as a complete novice to computers I needed a more simplified step by step guide to projects. However as I become more proficient I hope I will find it more useful.

I was hoping this book would guide me, plain & simply, threw the intimates of my Mac book. Unfortunately, I found the book complicated & hard to follow! It's probably me, not the book, but I was a bit mind boggled by it & all it's jargon! I really must be a 'super dummy'! The book does cover every aspect of Mac OS X, but I would have prefered something alittle simpler & light hearted! Anyone fancy writing a Mac OS X Snow Leopard for super dummies?!

As all Dummies Books a very good and concise book, which Bob LeVitus is the best.
Looking forward to Lion OS 10.7
