1.0 out of 5 stars Full of errors and fabrications
It is a pity that there isn't a good, up-to-date biography of Paul Simon available. This unauthorized biography has too many errors and obvious fabrications to be considered at all reliable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wikipedia beware, 3 Jan 2012
This review is from: Paul Simon: A Life (Hardcover)
Was pleased with this gift and eager to read. Did Marc Eliot ever speak to anyone who knows or knew Paul Simon? Boring lists of...everything : album contents, play lists for concerts, who played what instrument. All available from inside sleeves / programme notes etc. Tragic that one of the (many) inaccuaracies is the quoted lyrics to Bridge over troubled water, particularly since hearing the song apparently inspired the author!
Compared to other biographies, truly awful.
More interesting and robust information on Wikipedia : will perhaps reconsider answering current appeal for donations.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous book, 4 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Paul Simon: A Life (Hardcover)
There is far to many mistakes with dates etc for the book to be believable for example Paul returned to England in January 1966 to visit Kathy, how could he possibly return to England in January 1966 when he left England in December 1965 and never saw Kathy again for over 20 years.Paul wrote bridge over troubled water when he was 21 years old WRONG again he wrote in 1969 when he was 28 years old. also there is a photograph of Paul suppose to have been taken in 2007 were he looks 10 years younger than he does in the photograph taken in 1998, Luther Vandross is in the 2007 photograph with with him and he had been dead for 2 years when the photograph was taken. But by far the most ridiculous thing I read in the whole book was in Marc Eliots acknowledgements he actually thinks that Art Garfunkel sings so long silver girl in bridge over troubled water EVERY ONE BUT HIM knows its sail on silver girl.I am not to sure that Marc Eliot knows anything about Paul Simon or what he looks like for some reason early on in the book he seems to think Paul was strange looking, if he thinks being small makes him strange looking there must be billions of strange looking people walking around the planet.I was also irritated about the ammount of stuff written about Bob Dylan if I had wanted to know all this stuff about Bob Dylan I would have bought a book about him instead of Paul Simon.
