Does the job
on 21 February 2012
I don't feel the book is well writen, offering very little detail about anything, and often ends each section/tool with "see the man page for more".
Infact, if you had the time and patience you could just use "--help" on every command you can think off, and then you have a free electronic version of this book.
That said, having this book helps to provide you structure, and gives you the chance to read it where ever you like (as long as you don't mind carrying a fat paperback with you), you can also be confident that your study is inline with the LPIC level 1, rather than you going off in a different direction.
It does the job, just isn't a great read and doesn't really provide you any information that isn't freely available on your Linux docs already. If you need structure to learn, take this book, or something similar.
