5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable, comprehensive and illuminating, 17 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The most relevant and comprehensive guide to personality disorders currently available.

It is however a very weighty book. It's big in size and price, and it goes academically deep!

Is this book for you? Hopefully these points will help you decide:

Plus Points:
* Very Comprehensive. Includes historical information, case studies, alternate viewpoints, etc.
* Up to date. Deals effectively with the lack of clarity around DSM5.
* Relatively accessible. It's fairly easy to read, and it is self contained. You can read the book "on it's own" without needing to refer to other books/references the DSM etc.

Minus Points:
* Overly wordy in parts. Some of the introductory chapters are particularly heavy going!
* Requires a certain amount of familiarity with the subject. If you are just starting out in the subject, it might be best to start with something lighter.
* Written prior to the publication of DSM5, which is a good thing only so long as DSM5 remains unpublished!
