Science of Being and Art of Living by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is one of those pivotal books for me. The information covered is profound, subtle and resonated with me in a major way. I was fortunate to have a friend who practiced TM at the time I was reading it (I hadn't learned yet) and dialogs with him were beyond illuminating. The only experience that surpassed reading it was learning TM. Highly recommend both!!

An interesting good read and on sale at a good price too. It wont tell you how to actually meditate though. At one time the TM organisation used to charge really modest fees, now they are sky high at £1200 in the UK. I have heard they have dropped the price recently. Unless the price is down to about £75, it is still sky high.

This book dates from the early days of the TM organisation, before it started getting bad publicity for e.g. claiming to be able to teach people to levitate! " Yogic Flying" as they called it at the time. They charged sky high fees for this too. No wonder the organisation is wealthy.

How to meditate, using a very similar technique, is shown in the book " The Relaxation response" by Herbert Benson. Dr Benson's meditation technique is based on the style of meditation taught by the T.M. organisation.

If you want to learn this technique get Benson's book for a bargain price on Amazon.

I feel the book, science of living, although informative, is a sort of sales tract for the TM technique. Get the book for the info. in it but dont pay the high fees they want you pay to learn TM.

It is shameful that the greatest philosopher and saint receives so little attention. His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi 's book deserves to be read by everyone, adults and children alike.

This was the only book owned by my dad, Bhabesh Chandra Sen. In this book Maharishi sets forth the theory which sustains his recommendation of the practice of Transcendental Meditation. The purpose of life is to find happiness and this is found by turning within to fathom the field of Being at the root of the mind. Thought flows from Being and Being can be realised by tracing a thought back to its source in Being which transcends thought.

Maharishi is the clearest writer in the English language I have found. He is clear in thought and word. He is the light of our age and all ages.

Very profound wisdom. Read a bit at a time as it's very dense.
