Books on similar subjects appear to arrive several at a time. In addition to this particular work, I have another three all with the word `Millionaire' in the title (two very different works both called "How to think like a Millionaire" and one called "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind). No!, they do not show you how to go out and win the lottery or obtain the secret of some other get-rich-quick scheme. If they did, I would describe them all as rubbish and demand a refund from the publisher.

Leaving those other works aside, this book shows you how to look after and make the most of what you have. My father always used to decry the fact that "money always goes to money." Of course, if you have a lot and are getting a decent rate of interest, then, of course, it does. But I also remember a young married soldier from many years ago who owned a very up-market car, a nice towing caravan, a small removals lorry and had the finest furniture in his married quarter. Those vehicles were for rent and his fellow soldiers (and officers) made the most of them. I remember him very clearly because everything he achieved was both legal and on an under-paid private soldier's wage and he owed no money to anyone. His secret was in making extra money and looking after all his income with the greatest care.

And that is what this book is all about. It requires the reader to adopt a very different attitude towards money and expenditure and it works. Or at least it can - if you are prepared to learn the lessons and put them in to practise.

And I wish you well.

This is an AMAZING introduction and summary of the legendary success principles of Napoleon Hill. I would suggest, this book should be read before reading any other writing by Hill, say Think and Grow Rich. It touches the success principles very briefly but ‘intensely’ enough to set a person on fire. This fire will surely make you read Think and Grow Rich. The dosage of these two books is enough for transformation to a different plane of life.

If you are a winey bone idle worker and company's going down hill, and all you do is worry and moan about bad luck of your life and personality -- this will help you get succesfull and hopefully wealthy, because now you will pull your sock up and serve people and then people like you and then you want to live and then you get a richer skilled life and you will make money!
Book will help you get more out of yourself and give to family and society. Tells you how to apply yourself at work and change your personality, belief and attitude for the better. Should be taught kindly from the age of two, or to teenagers. How to be creative and live life to the full giving you best. The book is not a get rich scheme, just get a richer serving personality and behaviour that will make you give a little extra of yourself and have inventive ideas to get skilled so you can serve more people who will pay you a wage so you do get rich. BRILL BOOK!!!

This book was put together from his many magazine articles, and then updated by the Napoleon Hill Foundation.

The thoughtful editing means that Hill's excellent concise principles read fluently and coherently, with a positive underlying message of creating optimism and belief in order to arrive at the results.

It is a joy to read. I have many similar books, but this is one of the most uplifting.

I was profoundly surprised to find this book being a guide to personal success for those who wish to succeed ethically. It is not a "get-rich-at-the-expense-of-others" kind of guidebook. In fact, it mentions greed as being one of the negative emotions.

Unfortunately, the book's title, especially the spiel below it about the author having written "Think & Grow Rich", belies its high quality of content.

An unfortunate thing about the author's life work is his ignorance about his own Western world's capitalist nature and use of money (- which should be, but is not entirely a mechanism of exchange for goods and services only). He is not alone in this ignorance, as is evident by the booms & busts brought about by the private banks' fractional reserve system of producing money and trading therein: He, amongst many others, supported the government of his time (in the Great Depression last century) in supporting the banks as they have recently been supported this century.

However, the book is not just for people who want to get rich; it is for anyone who wants to do any thing successfully as well as ethically. The chapters in the book are -
- Develop Definiteness of Purpose
- Establish a Mastermind Alliance
- Assemble an Attractive Personality
- Use Applied Faith
- Go the Extra Mile
- Create Personal Initiative
- Build a Positive Mental Attitude
- Control Your Enthusiasm
- Enforce Self-Discipline
- Think Accurately
- Control Your Attention
- Inspire Teamwork
- Learn from Adversity & Defeat
- Cultivate Creative Vision
- Maintain Sound Health
- Budget Your Time & Money
- Use Cosmic Habitforce
- The 17 Principles of Success (Review)

Included on a 2-CD set (ISBN: 1905453221) titled "The Science of Personal Achievement" (claiming to explain the 17 keys to success, but including only parts of the book's content) is the author's prayer that is worth mentioning here, and which confirms his attitude as not being one of just getting rich:

"Oh, Infinite Intelligence,
I ask not for more riches,
But for more Wisdom
With which to make better use
Of the Blessings with which
I was endowed at birth,
Through the Privilege of embracing
My own mind and directing it
To ends of my own choice."

This is a book one can read many times over in one's life: Napoleon Hill's life work was an outcome of such infinite intelligence.

Carrying on from "Think and Grow Rich", this pulls together lots of extra material which Hill did not include in the original. The book comes from The Napoleon Hill Foundation but is true to Hill's original style.
Like all self help / motivation books, the ideas only work if you put them into action, but there is certainly plenty of material here to work with.
The key question, as you may well read elsewhere, is not what do you have to do to be successful but who do you have to BE???
