The author seems to think she can write about England and the English, without any real understanding of them. It's very annoying. The hero is a lord, who has apparently given up using his title, unless it happens to suit him.. Surely if she decides to write about English and their sometimes quite odd quirks, she should know that if one gives up their title it goes to someone further down the food chain.
Secondly he has this habit of referring to children as kiddies. Trust me, he wouldn't!
Her characters are good and often very funny. They just aren't quite English
