I bought this for my 8 year old who really enjoys the BBC children's programme. It's got lots of information about Leonardo's life as well as his inventions/ideas. Of particular interest are his machines and views of the body. I'd recommend it anyone wanting more information about Leonardo Da Vinci and his contribution to history.

Illustrations a bit dense and sparse and text a little too detailed for a children's book. Usually this series is really good but this book only 4 stars.

This entire series is extremely well written for readers from age 5 up. For example, the book on Leonardo da Vinci makes it clear he was endlessly curious and inventive and successful despite having been abandoned by his parents and left with grandparents who did not love him very much. The book details his life, his struggles, his art and his inventions. I am a grandmother and will buy all 18 of these books for my granddaughter, at her request. She is only five but is already reading these books by herself. However I think older children will mostly be appreciative.
