5.0 out of 5 stars Clinical Case Studies in Physiotherapy
I have been waiting for some time for a book like this to be published and at last someone has!!! As a student going out on different placements can be extremely daunting; full only of lecture based theory and little actual experiences to hang this theory from. This book puts these two together for you.

It is pocket sized beginning with placement preparation...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great!
Ok but not great, if your a physio student and your pooing going on placement then might be worth a read but probably not worth the money as most of the case studies are just common sense, and as a clinician you never know whats going to be thrown at you or what could come in on any given day. All in all good but not great!

I have been waiting for some time for a book like this to be published and at last someone has!!! As a student going out on different placements can be extremely daunting; full only of lecture based theory and little actual experiences to hang this theory from. This book puts these two together for you.

It is pocket sized beginning with placement preparation and what to expect, along with obtaining your first physiotherapy post. Thereafter follows numerous case studies split in to the following sections: respiratory, neurology, musculoskeletal, elderly, mental health and women's health. These are presented as a subjective and objective assessment followed by a number of questions for you to answer. At the end of the section are the answers with the rationale where needed.

I can't praise this book highly enough. It really is a must have and is ideal for students, new graduates and for anyone perhaps going to work in an area they have been out of for a while. It is also a great revision aid when you start applying for that first job. I personally find case studies the best way (apart from actually doing the job!) to cement your learning and be able to understand how to apply this to practice.

In a nutshell, if you are finding the thought of applying your theory to practice daunting, get out there and buy this book. I wish it had been available when I was starting my training rather than at the end, but it has still been of great help in my interview preparation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle version unreadable, 5 Aug 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I find this a very good book with plenty of examples and questions to stimulate clinical reasoning. Unfortunately the format is unsuitable for kindle readers: all case studies (with questions) are presented at the beginning of a chapter and all answers are at the end. There is no link between question and answer so you have to go back and forth page by page or add a bookmark for each case study. A pain. and a shame. and waste of money, at least for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Useful, 28 Dec 2012

This book would be very useful for anyone prior to starting clinical placements, or those who have graduated but are due to start work in the near future. The case studies are well written with all the answers in the back so you can check your answer against the ideal answer. It covers most of the common conditions or patients you may come across when working. Good book, worth the price.
