5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Way to Learn, and Retain, Historical Knowledge!
'Dire details about blitzed Britan that affected everyone in the country.'
'Every Governement lies to its people! In Italy, theirs said that they had bombed Britain so bad that they had shot the Loch Ness Monster and killed it!
"That must have been messy!"
"No, it was Nessie!"
Superb wit and wisdom mix to make this one of the best of the audiobooks...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Series, 11 May 2012

These are fantastic history stories....gripping, entertaining and full of info to captivate young minds. My son drifts off to sleep listening to these every night. A real winner as the books are just a little too tricky for him so the CD captures his imagination and although we still read together it takes him on to more challenging stories and is providing him with the love for reading and interesting plots. Also great for putting on to the ipod for time filling moments.

Can't recommend highly enough!

What a great book. A wonderful way to learn about WWII. It helps my Grandchildren to revise for exams. It is written in the same form as the fantastic programmes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relaxing way to learn history!, 14 April 2011
I read these books to get a laugh and to relax from heavy history literature. They are fun, entertaining, light reading. You only spend a couple of hours and then you have finished the book. Terry Deary manages to find not so common stories to teach the most avid wwii historian something as well. I have learned a lot of new facts from these books when I thought I knew it all.
This book is not as full of humour as the books are that only touch the Blitz. You can joke about your own people but it is difficult to do so about the Germans and Japanese. He still manages to sneak it in here and there with illustrations even though the topic of war really is a horrible one.
