4.0 out of 5 stars Good teaching resource aimed at KS2/KS3., 30 Sept. 2000

This review is from: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Scholastic Literature Guides (Harry Potter)) (Paperback)
This literature guide is specifically aimed at the US market and obviously uses the American version of the book. It is however useful for the to the UK teacher as it summarises the chapters, suggests key questions and has some good cross-curricular ideas targeting thinking skills, some basic worksheets and it draws out new vocabulary. It is therefore a very helpful guide to the overworked teacher/home-educator. I found it extremely useful as a starting-point to creating a scheme of work based on the UK version of the book. I would definitely recommend it and the two other literature guides (Chamber of Secrets and Azkaban). However, the only downside is the fact that obviously the page numbers do not correspond to the UK Bloomsbury Version. NOTE: there is no current UK version.
