4.0 out of 5 stars Dark but thoughtful story from Armah., 9 April 2002

This review is from: Why Are We So Blest? (African Writers Series) (Paperback)
If you are a fan of this African writer, I hardly need to convince you to pick up this book. But, if you are not yet a fan of Armah, this is a good book to start out with. It focuses around two main chracters who are exposed through the pages of their journals and one character who edits the journals into a book whilst talking about hi slife in Africa. It deals a lot with the relationship of Africa and Africans with the Colonizing West, mainly Britain but also America. It is an intellegent tale that deals with the sensitive issue of the opressed. But Armah is not a sensitive writer. And this book is not a sensitive book. It is hard hitting and though sometimes fairly radiacal, Armah gets his pint across. Recommended to anyone who wants to hear more from native Africans about the experiences of the colonized.
