I urge people to buy this book as the new edition has been re-issued without printing errors. The content of the book has been updated and refreshed with a change of format and new images together with a completely new section about neuroscience. This remains the best development book to suit all courses and as a handbook for parents wanting to follow the progress of their child. The activities suggested at each stage are accessible for students, childcare workers and parents alike (grandparents too!).

Purchased this after my tutor told me too. I'm currently doing a Level 3 diploma In supporting children in schools. The book helped me complete one of the tasks and contained all the information I needed. It's broken down into ages which makes it easier and is very well explained. Would recommend this to anyone studying my ourselves or something similar. Could be useful for expectant mothers as it's easy to understand.

I have just received this book and I have the previous edition, I wasn't sure if this book would be much difference between the last edition but there is! This book contains more info plus it goes in detail right up to age 19 and also includes special needs children and theorists. Great book I will be using on my degree to quote the child developmental norms for different age groups. Great buy!

This is a very clear book that imparts a good level of information for people new to this subject. The pictures make it very clear reinforcing examples of skills at each age.

My daughter needed this book for her college course childcare and development NVQ level 3.
It really is a great book and with the added DVD it's been very helpful.

I bought this as a gift but couldn't resist dipping into the book. The lay out is clear and the content easy to negotiate. As a guide very useful and informative.
