*sigh* MJD is a funny writer but I just don't dig her short stories anymore. The book has large print, you don't have a chance to engage in the story and it's like reading the same sex scene over again. The Betsy story at the beginning is the best one - that still made me giggle but the rest..left no impression on me. I wish she would write a full book featuring the Wyndham Werewolves because the short stories just don't have a lot of substance. Kind of like you blink...and you miss it.

MJD is one of my top favorite writers and I never get tired of reading this anthology. We start off with the honeymoon story missing in the regular Vampire Queen Betsy book series. This story is fact pace with lots of human mixed in with a bit of mystery. Queen Betsy and King Sinclair are honeymooning in New York and her best human friends Jessica and Nick decide to crash the honeymoon to try to get Nick to like her fanged friends better. Nick has fun messing with them until he learn that the hotel their staying at is vampire central in New York filled with servants who would obey their king and queen every whim. Only there a killer vampire in New York that Sinclair and Betsy has to interrupt their honeymoon to deal with. The reader gets to enjoy trying to solve the mystery before the killer is revealed at the end of this short tale.

MJD second story in the book comes from her Fred the Mermaid trilogy. Taking place after book 2 where the mer race revealed themselves to the world television star Con Conlinson is lost at sea and meet a beautiful mermaid with a self image problem who aid him with a hammerhead shark problem and take him to a deserted island where she take care of him while he waits to be rescue. As they get to know each other better he falls head over heels in love with her.

Finally we come across a Wyndham Werewolf tale about 29 year old Cain who never left the Cape Cod pack and blame her current problems on Vampire Queen Betsy. The big problem is that she's suppose to find herself a mate before she turns 30. She gets this guy who been her best friend forever Saul help her through a series of speed dating blind dates for Mr. Right not realizing the one who really wants her was right there in front of her. He was making sure she was ending up with Mr. Wrong while he tries to show her who she should really be with. He knows she truly loves him and the she's just too stubborn to admit it.

Nice stories but a little sparse. I do like to know what happens in the undead series, so if this is the way to do it, fair enough.

As with all Mary Janice Davidson books, I loved it and read it in one sitting being dragged away to eat meals
