5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for my Master thesis, 28 Mar 2013
This review is from: Global Education Inc.: New Policy Networks and the Neoliberal Imaginary (Paperback)
A very useful book for anyone who wants to know more about how education policy is being shaped by policy networks, policy entrepreneurs and education businesses around the world. The book does not claim to be comprehensive (it would be impossible to completely map the subjects of the book) but uses a series of examples to show the connections between actors involved in education policy around the world. Ball uses the shift to governance to show how neoliberalism is being "done" in terms of education policy, convincingly arguing that a nationally-focused approach to education policy analysis is no longer appropriate. Apart from the content, the book is very readable and clearly structured. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for all who have an interest in education, 11 July 2013

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book needs to be read for people to fully understand the implications of education reforms and the need for participatory development that includes evidence of what works, and consultation responses for coherent policies. The book engages with the privatisation of education and this will enable people to make informed decisions about schools and their relationship to the state, stakeholders including students and teachers knowledge production/transmission and sustainability. This is particularly vital when talks are taking place regarding educating every child in the world to at least primary school level and how this is to be financed sustainably.
