A great supplement to other courses,

I have done the Michel Thomas 8 hour language course and loved it. It takes you from a very basic level to feeling really quite confident pretty quickly. However it does have holes which I feel this course filled quite nicely.I was in France for 3 weeks recently and found that there were a lot of slang sayings that people use, (as we do), which I just couldnt understand. I was able to ask for stuff and converse reasonably confidently after the MT course and so people assumed, (Wrongly), that I would be able to converse easily. My favourite saying was "Could you please speak slower as my french is very poor". This course is spoken using the same language that you will hear every day in France and I feel that it has helped me enormously. A definate great buy!

Short and sweet but effective!,

This is a good, basic book for someone just beginning to learn French, or someone like me who's trying to recap after a few years of not using what I learned at school ^^;;The units are short and snappy (but informative), each following a loose theme and introducing just a little more grammar each time, for quick learning. The main reason I didn't give it five stars was that the amount of new vocabulary given in each unit is really minimal and not well organised (there's a master list at the back of the book, but no vocab list at the start of each unit, as I've come to expect with other books).
