4.0 out of 5 stars A very useful introduction and resource, 3 Oct 2008

This review is from: Introduction to Microwave Remote Sensing (Hardcover)
What makes this book different is the author's approach to his readership. Thoughout the book the reader is engaged by the author, for example, section 3.4 is entitled The Most Important Section in this Book. This may sound trite but Woodhouse manages to carry it off. The book contains a number of features that make reading and reference to different sections easy: The index is comprehensive as it should be; the book is also annotated in the margin to point out key terms or topics; the reader is frequently encouraged to follow up with recommended reading; A handy appendix section is included to refresh your mathematics; and where appropriate the less-mathematically minded are given shortcuts. The content is suitable for the post-graduate or professional and features sections such as Physical Fundamentals, Polarimetry, Passive Imaging and Imaging Radar..... Whilst an introduction the book bridges the gap between many undergraduate texts, that may introduce microwave RS very briefly, and the Ulaby or Fung heavy weight texts.
