This review is from: Managing Historic Sites and Buildings: Reconciling Presentation and Preservation (Issues in Heritage Management) (Paperback)
Lots of people involved in the care for heritage buildings share the tendency to overprotect their project. Ever so often, this results in a sterile still life of days gone by. This book does not give you all the solutions to avoid that, but it certainly raises a fair number of possible points of view to bring back life in heritage property. The authors focus on presentation and access combined with sincere restauration.
The case histories they present set good examples, not only for monuments open to the general public, but also for privately owned buildings still used as a family home.
A book that makes you think...
