This review is from: The Development of Costume (Heritage: Care-Preservation-Management) (Paperback)
I am researching the period around 1550 to 1600 for a novel. It was necessary to know everything about the making of clothes for ordinary people at that time, development of spinning, weaving, needles from bone to metal, thread used. This book provided everything I needed to know from animal skins onward, then moved on to styles and fashions and when various materials were used. For my purposes it was ideal as it is vital not to mention articles before they were invented or in common use.
