My 8 week old baby loves being read "Polar Bear, Polar Bear" by Eric Carle and will stare at the illustrations for ages. So I thought i'd order some more eric carle books. The books are beautifully produced and use the illustrations from his story books. Each page is split and the idea is to match one half of the page with the other half of the page which are mixed up through the book. As such this is not a great book for new babies. I'm sure as he gets older and starts to look at books by himself and understands language these books will be great fun, as we match and make "mistakes" etc. There is also print on many pages, so again great as the child approaches 3 to 4 yrs. I think it is a little misleading to call it "My very first..." they are better for children a little older. I would prefer books with larger illustrations, they are a little too small to at this stage of development.
