5.0 out of 5 stars Bob Dylan Revisited, 13 Mar 2010

When I first saw this book I loved the idea of artists interpreting Bob Dylan's work, however I had serious doubts about how well this would be executed. As soon as I opened the book I realized how wrong it was of me to doubt its quality. Every page is a joy to behold, a different style of artwork coming from each artist along with a thought-provoking story. I don't believe i saw a complete list of the songs contained in this book so here they are listed with there artists:
"Blowin' in the wind" by Thierry Murat
"A hard rain's a-gonna fall" by Lorenzo Mattotti
"I want you" by Nicolas Nemiri
"Girl from the north country" by Francois Avril
"Lay, lady lay" by Jean-Claude Gotting
"Positively 4th street" by Christopher
"Tombstone blues" by Bezian
"Desolation row" by Dave McKean
"Like a rolling stone" by Alfred, Raphaelle Le Rio, Mael Le Mae and Henri Meunier
"Hurricane" by Gradimir Smudja
"blind willie mctell" by Benjamin Flao
"knockin' on heaven's door" by Jean-Philippe Bramanti
"Not dark yet" by Zep
I highly recommend this book to any Dylan fan, especially one that is interested in seeing a collection of attempts to interpret the works of Bob Dylan.

5.0 out of 5 stars bob dylan revisited, 28 Dec 2009

This is a stunning book - for fans of Dylan and graphic artists alike. Thirteen of Dylan's songs, including Desolation Row, Blowing in the Wind, Like a Rolling Stone and Lay, Lady, Lay, have been interpreted by leading graphic artists and the result is a beautiful book and new insights into the songs. Each artist is so different and effective that it is difficult to choose a favourite, although I loved Thierry Murat's depiction of Blowing in the Wind and also Jean-Claude Gotting's of Lay, Lady, Lay (possibly because of the song). Since Dylan is also a visual artist, it would be interesting to know what he thinks of the book - but have a look you will be rewarded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth visiting and revisiting time and time again, 11 Mar 2014
This review is from: Bob Dylan Revisited (Hardcover)
I have read many books about Dylan over many years, but few bring such a fresh prospective as this book. It gives you fantastic excuse to go back and listen to some of his greatest songs and find something new and exciting in each one. A second and third volume are much awaited.

A fabulous book I bought for a friend who had been wanting it for some time. It lived up to his expectations. The illustrations were beautiful by well known artists and the lyrics spot on.
The delivery was quick too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcomed surprise amongst the annual renewal of socks, pants and varies Deodorants., 27 Dec 2013

I was the happy recipient of this delightful book by way of my beloved sister who, it has stop said, hit the nail on the head this year. The book is a work of art, to put it simply. The renderings are exquisite especially Dave McKean's (Arkham Asylum, The Sandman, Hellblazer)fantastic take on Dylan's epic poem put the music, Desolation Row. Hurricane is interpreted by Gradimir Smudja (Le Bordel des Muses)in immaculate detail. I couldn't thank my sister enough and it was a welcomed surprise amongst the annual renewal of socks, pants and varies Deodorants. If you want something for a Dylan fan/geek, young or old who has a penchant for Graphic Art perhaps?, consider this fantastic, under the radar classic that I shall cherish for decades.

Cheers Heather.
