This review is from: A Simple Shaker Murder (Sister Rose Callahan Mystery) (Mass Market Paperback)
An apparent suicide, was there a witness and if so did she understand what had happened? Sister Rose returns to find the Shaker's of New Homage divided and there is a new challenge to their life and beliefs. Sister Rose tries to help the young witness to make sense of her pictures, are they from Mother Ann and who else will exploit them? Deborah Woodworth has used the her insight into Shaker life to give us a clear picture of the problems that faced the Shaker community in the 1930's with the ecconomic effests of the Great depression and predudice against the Shakers at every turn. The story is written with warmth and a deep feeling for the problems of a confused and frightend child. It is a good mystery and up to the exacting standards the autor has previously set for herself.
