5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful!!!
Lisa Klepas is a great writer for Historical Romance and always provides a delightful story to relish and this was no different!
The story is of Tasia who after escaping execution for murder is hiding as a governess for Lord Stokehurst who is drawn to her as she is to him but as they finally realise that they are meant to be together Tasia's past comes back to...

3.0 out of 5 stars something missing!!
By far the weakest of Lisa Kleypas books.A hero with a hook for a hand just ruins the intimacy of the love scenes.I spent my time wondering if he was going to cut her to ribbons in a fit of passion !!!!

The story is of Tasia who after escaping execution for murder is hiding as a governess for Lord Stokehurst who is drawn to her as she is to him but as they finally realise that they are meant to be together Tasia's past comes back to haunt her.
The characters are beautifully written and realistic. Lord Stokehurst isn't perfect, he is missing his left arm and is slightly arrogant but it adds to his character and Tasia is a vibrant, strong and endearing character.
Once you read this you will want to read the Prince of Dreams the sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good writing, better characters, and incredible romance!, 2 April 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Midnight Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
I believe this to be Kleypas' best work yet. It is the story of a vibrant young Russian noblewoman, Tasia, who must flee to the manor of a British nobleman, Lord Stokehurst, in the guise of a governess to save herself from a death sentence. Unlike other books that I have read by Lisa Kleypas, this one truly puts her talents to use with a likeable, exotic heroine who is beautiful, smart, strong, and subtly sexy. Stokehurst shows remarkable pomposity, but still retains that dignified manliness that simply can't be resisted. In addition to having wonderfully explored characters with both beauty and faults, Ms. Kleypas ensures the reader a smooth read with her excellent writing, which is not to be taken for granted in the realm of romance novels. Although the plot leans a bit towards the unlikely (even unbelieveable) in the latter part of the book, it is balanced out by the fantastically delicious love scenes that help to make Midnight Angel a glorious trip into the sultry nights (and days) of old England.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most romantic love-stories ever !!!, 20 July 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Midnight Angel (Mass Market Paperback)
The only thing that's missing here is Luke's left hand (I guess It's just me, wanting to see a perfect hero). Other than that, there's really nothing to complain about. The love scenes are wonderful, the plot is interesting, and the ending is satisfactory. I've read it several times and still adore it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fast paced romance, 15 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)

This is one of Ms Kleypas's best stories. The protagonists are within the bounds of possibility.
This is the first of a series of tales following their progress.
Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent story, but not my favorite, 11 Aug 1998
By A Customer

I did enjoy this story, but it wasn't my favorite. Lisa Kleypas is a wonderful writer, but I kept wondering, what did he see in Tasia? There wasn't enough to build a relationship. I'd say more like 4 1/2 stars.

This book is definately one of my top 10 favorites. I could not put it down from the very beginning. I would certainly like to see more of Ms. Kleypas's work. The sequel to this is "Prince of Dreams", it is also a must read.
