5.0 out of 5 stars Need 3 rules for predicting the look of Dubya's Presidency?, 3 Jan. 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Shrub: The Short but Happy Political Life of George W. Bush (Paperback)
Molly Ivins, no stranger to political commentary, has surpassed herself with this acerbic assessment of 'Dubya' during his tenure as Texas Governor. Ivin's gossipy, accessible style turns what could have been a dry biog into a humorous canter through Dubya's activities in major areas of policy while Governor. That the reader emerges with a clearer picture of Dubya's politics is again thanks to Ivin's ability to sift the spin from the substance. This is a book in which erudition masquerades as entertainment, and it works. What emerges is a man with a Clintonesque easy charm, coupled with an almost Reagan-like aversion to the details of governing. For many watching US politics from beyond the Land Of The Free, it suggests a daunting 4 years ahead.
