4.0 out of 5 stars Big Sky Mountain
Hutch Carmody, rancher, finally gets to explain to his fiancee at the altar that he doesn't want to marry her. While this leaves Hutch ostracised in the small Montana town, at last he is free to find the right woman in BIG SKY MOUNTAIN. This is late in a series but can be read as a standalone.

3.0 out of 5 stars A okay read but nothing special
Hutch Carmody has just left a girl at the alter, needless to say he is the most liked male right now. Kendra Shepherd is now raising her ex-husband child, by another woman. Neither of them are looking for love but this former couple are now together and trying to make a go of it.
I really wanted to like "Big Sky Mountain" by Linda Lael Miller but it is really to. Ms...

Kendra Shepherd has returned to Parable County with her little adopted daughter Madison, after a failed marriage to a wealthy Englishman. She runs a real estate business which is far from thriving; clients range from a deputy with the wrong attitude to women to a rock star incognito. Putting her own large home on the market she settles in a small cottage. The local community welcomes her and while she worries that all her past is publicly discussed she is convinced that this is a good place in which to raise her child.
Hutch discovers that Kendra is back which rekindles memories of their teenage romance. She's not looking for a man and rather than press her to take up with him while he is being vilified on web pages by friends of the almost-bride, he settles for being neighbourly to Kendra and Madison. Hutch also has a genuine concern that a divorce could see him losing half of Whisper Creek ranch.
As the summer passes other friends have children, or finally get around to cleaning up the yard, and little Madison gets a pup, then a small pony, and a rodeo comes to town, Hutch and Kendra get to know each other for the first time as adults. They admit that they have renewed feelings for each other, but both of their pasts seem to prove insurmountable.
Linda Lael Miller has given us a book that is full of colour and detail and is a pleasure to read, with very human characters getting on with life and making decisions that make good sense, in their own time.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read, 30 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An average story with the outcome predictable. Not a good idea to put part of the previous book at the back.

I really wanted to like "Big Sky Mountain" by Linda Lael Miller but it is really to. Ms. Miller has so many plots going on it seems at time that Kendra and Hutch are not her main characters. It seemed at times that all Ms. Miller was doing was setting up plots so the reader would want to read the third book that comes out in the beginning of next year. I may read it but it will be used and not spending my money on a full price copy.
