5.0 out of 5 stars Lt. "Crash" Hawken - one of my top ten fictional heros...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pacy suspense story
This is one of Ms Brockmann's earlier works, and not in quite the same class
as her later ones, when she really got into her stride and became such an exponent
of romantic suspense.

For though Crash had long ago accepted the fact that there was no place in his dangerous world for the simple pleasures of home and family, Nell had been the only woman who had ever tempted him to dream of another kind of life...
This is my favourite Suzanne Brockmann 'Team 10' book - even though the recent Nightwatch has come a very close second. The conspiracy subplot kicked off in the previous book 'Harvards Education' when Team 10 were sent on a training mission in South East Asia that went badly wrong. The book flashes back to explain how Nell and Crash know each other so well - and I think its one of this books strengths that their relationship was formed through an experience many will have in common with them eg a family member being seriously ill, before it launches into a high octane espionage adventure. Crash really is tall, dark, very silent and suitably deadly and is one of my favourite romantic fiction heros!
