I originally picked up this novel having seen beaten up copies in second book shops; a blue an white face on a stick - ghostly, terrible and grubby in its trashiness. Within three days it was read, not leaving my hands during daylight hours, a twisting rollercoast of a tale. It rated, and still does, as one of the most traumatic books i've ever read, every twist and turn a joy of deadly delicious thrills.
