Katie Chandler is an executive assistant at Magic, Spells, & Illusions, Inc. "MSI" in Manhattan. Even though she is mortal, she works for some very important beings, such as Merlin the Magician. Merlin is the CEO of the company. Katie is one of the few people that magic cannot work on. She is an Immune. Now that she has worked with the company for awhile, she has seen all sorts of magical creatures and almost nothing bothers her anymore. Merlin has Katie read over contracts before he signs, just in case the contract has an enchantment on it to cloak some sections. Being an Immune, Katie can see the real words and let her boss know if a scam is being pulled.

Recently someone has broken into Owen's office and disrupted some very top secret files. Katie is assigned the task of finding out who the company spy is. This gives her a great reason to be around Owen. However, considering that Owen does not seem to be as interested in Katie as she is in him, it can be frustrating at times. In addition, Katie's parents are coming to town for a week. Katie must keep them from finding out what MSI really does and keep them entertained so they won't try to make her leave New York with them. NOT so easy since Katie's mother seems to be Immune too. How will Katie convince her mother that she is not really seeing fairies, gnomes, and gargoyles?

Katie soon discovers that her immunity to magic is waning! The spy has magical beings attacking Katie and she can no longer see what is coming. Even with backup, Katie may not live to see Christmas.

**** The first book "Enchanted, Inc." set up the whole magical and human environment. This book continues where it left off. If you have not read the first book, you will not find yourself lost in this story. However, if you read this one and expect to read the previous book at a later date, you may find yourself disappointed with the first. Author Shanna Swendson has done a terrific job combining fantasy and modern contemporary, and a touch of humor. I found myself giggling like a small child at parts, even as I tried to figure out who the spy within the company was. A fun and witty read! ****

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchantingly wity, as good as the first..., 28 April 2006

If you haven't read the first book Enchanted Inc, then I suggest you do. It is one of the best contemporary fantasies ever written and this little gem is the perfect sequel.

Katie chandler was an ordinary girl, when men dated her all they saw was apple pie and picket fences, well Katie chandler isn't all that normal. In face she's quite rare, Katie is one of the rare few known as immunes. People so thoroughly un-magical that spells don't even work on them. Because of this Katie was offered a job with magic, spells and illusions Inc (MSI). Not only was she seeing elves, fairies and talking, moving gargoyles, she was actually working with them and having the best time of her life. But it isn't all glitz and glamour's, a former employee has gone into business himself, marketing the worse kinds of spells. Surprisingly it was up to Katie to save the day.

And now one week later, things are almost back to normal, but then she sees them, bright, glittery red stilettos that she just has to buy and guess what they give her a few problems, read it to find out.

The characters in these books are some of the best I have ever come across, Katie is a well grounded person who's not afraid to have a good time, even though she's an absolute lightweight when it comes to alchohol. She enjoys her work and loves to think about the young, gorgeous wizard Owen Palmer. But Owen's shy (his blushes are adorable) and has enough interest already shown in him to make him red for a week. So Katie's content to be friends and just daydream about him. Of course that's not when she's worry about the dark wizard who seems to be out to get her and fighting off co-workers unwanted advances. It's tough being an immune in New York City... but hey someone's got to do it and she's the perfect girl for the job!

Once upon Stilettos, the perfect buy for any

4.0 out of 5 stars Loving the Enchanted series!, 30 July 2008

After reading 'ENCHANTED INC.' I was very excited to read the next book in this series by Shanna Swendson, 'ONCE UPON STILETTOS' and I am happy to say that the second cast it's spell on me just as the first did.

In this book Katie Chandler is back, only this time the trials and tribulations of working for MSI, Magic, Spells & Illusions are starting to take a toll on her personal life. Katie and her boyfriend don't seem to be on the same page, the evil Phelan Idris seems to be out to, if not ruin her life, at least make it considerably more annoying and when her parents come to NYC for a visit she has to be on double duty as a tour guide and protecting her mother from magic. Because as Katie soon finds out her small town Texas mother is an immune too!

To make matters worse it seems that there is a spy at MSI and the spy's target seems to be none other than Katie herself! But all of this couldn't come at a worse time because in the midst of it all Katie begins to lose her most valuable resource, her immunity.

I am really enjoying this series. It is everything that you would hope for in this type of series. It has charm to spare, lots of whimsy and just a dash of romance to top it all off. I think anyone would be sure to enjoy these Katie Chandler books just as much as I have.

Loved this sequel, I really like Shanna Swendson's style of writing and her characters! I love that Owen and Katie finally get together at the end of the book cause while I do really like Ethan, I didn't want him and Katie together and didn't think it was fair for Katie to date him while pining for Owen! I'm loving this series and I'm determined to track down all the books for my kindle!
