I bought Diary of a Chav:Trainers vs. Tiaras, when it first came out. I didnt really fancy it at the time but a few years later, four days before Christmas and I was going crazy locked in the house with my brother... I picked it up off the shelf
And fell in love.
This series of books is amazing in the way that Shiraz is such a believable, but interesting character. I love the way that Grace Dent writes, and like the way that Shiraz doesn't always understand things. The rest of the characters were funny and realistic too, and their lives all go down routes that discuss subjects like teenage pregnancy, racism, gangs, illegal immigration, etc.etc. But in a really interesting way that teenagers will find interesting and relatable. all the way through the books I constantly thought "I know a boy like that!"or Omg I know that girl!" (I have a friend just like Cava Sue, with a tiny bit of Kezia mixed in)

I thought that Keeping it Real was the perfect ending. I wont spoil the plot, but it's a twist. I've always wondered, do you think she meets up with Joshua? I love how Shiraz never really looses sight of what's important to her, even if she gets a bit lost sometimes.
Im so sad that a great series of books that craftily discuss the shades of grey in ordinary people's lives has come to an end.

Okay, enough gushing,
Babbette xxx
P.s. Diary of a snob was good too, in an opposite end of the spectrum thing. But Poppet's adventure wasnt as exciting as Shiraz's

I bought Keeping it Real in 2009, didn't want it to end, I can't put all six Diary of a Chav books, I'm not going to spoil it for anyone by saying what happened all I'm going to say is buy it, if you love Shiraz Bailey-Wood, you'll love Keeping it Real.

a great finale of Shiraz's story and her troublesome family! Wesley wants to get married (sorry spoiler alert!) but can Shiraz make the right life decision?

It kept me up all night and day. It is a good book but a few bits were muddled and confusing. But a really good book to end the series.
