Excellent for professionals and parents. Ideal for children changing schools and those who have difficulty in fitting in.Keeping a diary is a very good idea and helps the child to focus.A good guide to changing the negative child into a positive one.

This is an excellent little book full of sensible ideas/thoughts/reflections. Young people who have/are experiencing difficulties in friendships or actually being bullied will find much to identify with and hopefully find some comfort of shared experiences. A good way of helping a young person to open up and talk about it.

I got this book for my son who has aspergers, he's 13. He finds the whole friends issue very confusing and had been getting bullied by so called friends. This book was great! He could read it at his own pace and one to me if he needed to talk. I think it helped because some things these "friends" had done embarrassed him once he realised the motive behind it, so this book allowed him to read over and disgust his feelings without getting angry and defensive. It's been a great help and I'd recommend it to all children to read...bullied or bullies!

This is a great book that offers the young reader a way of preparing themselves mentally to defend themselves against the Bullies, Bigmouths and So Called Friends that they will inevitably meet as they move up through Senior School.

Lots of little case studies and quizes (which my 11 year old and her friends loved) all mixed in with advice on building up your psychological defences - and ofcourse - the all important message that 'It's not your fault - it's the bully that has the problem'.

I thought to myself "Wouldnt it be good if there was a book written for children that I could give to my son to give him coping mechanisms for dealing with the stress of bullying and smart-mouthed comments".... and then I stumbled across this, and its PERFECT.

My son is 10 and its great for his age, but could also be suited to anyone from about 7yrs to 15yrs. I opened the book expecting it to be patronising but it really wasnt. It made me laugh out loud in places (especially the bit about what mums say if you tell them youre being bullied!)

I would highly recommend this book for anyone with young kids who are being bullied or even are just having problems with their mates being thoughtless idiots in the way that 10yr olds often are.

This was the first of three books I purchased for my daughter to help her get over a recent trauma. Totally empowering for her- I used this in conjunction with a hpynosis cd A Childrens Confidence CD It had immediate effect and my daughter was keen to start on the little projects it gave. Fantastic, Im looking at a different child now. It most definitely helped her on her way. Cant recommend it enough. Thankyou J Alexander for producing a very very childfriendly product. Probably too young a format for teenagers though ideal for under 12's.

Bought this for my 11 year old son who starts secondary school in September. I read a few pages, they were enough for me to know how useful the book would be to him. Some of the information is essential to a childs emotional well being. I believe the book should be part of the curriculum!!
I was pleasantly surprised at just how pleased he was with it too. He took it from me with some trepidation, but didn't put it down. Definately worth every penny.
If you have difficulty knowing how to support your child with issues that may occur, this is most definately the book for you and them.

I bought this book along with "Stick up for yourself:every kid's guide to personal power and self esteem" and "The Unwritten Rules of Friendship" for my year 5 (aged 9 rising 10) daughter who had been struggling with "friendship problems" as the school terms them, as well as some persistent teasing. This book was easy for her to read as well as me. The little projects along the way with paper and pencil were unappealing to her, so she didn't do them, but there were lots of useful sections on recognising emotions in more detail than she was used to, so that she could discuss and understand her feelings in a more useful way. There were many little examples of teasing and unkind behaviour which she could easily relate to and she read the whole book with enthusiasm. This book made her understand that part of why she was being made so upset at school was because she lacked confidence, and that knowledge in itself helped her enormously.

A great value book for getting to grips with feelings and bullies.

This is wrote very simply so a child can understand what is happening and gives a great understanding in my opinion to the parent/carer on how to handle a most difficult time. It is a guidance only. And though doesn't come up with all the answers and all the scenarios which would be impossible. I would certainly recommend it. It helped me a distraught mother in understanding different terminologies to use and identify different types of manipulation, intimidation, verbal, physical and now cyber bullying. We can only try and do our best and guide our children, they are not us and I have learnt from this book that by saying "you should say this and do that or ignore them" is not helpful to my child. With the help of this book I am trying to build self esteem and confidence in their own self and well being so that they learn that it is not OKAY to be picked on or put down by anyone, that they are important..... I wish you well in reading this book and though my daughter refused to read it, I have used the words and hints to guide her..... I have borrowed it to a friend who's daughter wants to read it...... Hopefully the world will be a better place for all people who are put down from helpful reading of this book.

This book has some many uses, I bought a copy for a friend who has young children going through bullying. Also as a counselling student working with families the book will be an excellent therapeutic aid. The book came in excellent condition and in good time.
