4.0 out of 5 stars A great reminder of an excellent film
Having seen this movie 5 times already, buying the book was the next best thing to trekking out to the cinema all the time. The whole screenplay is there along with the photos (which are aplenty) as well as scenes and dialogues which didn't make it. As in my summary, this is very good book to a wonderfully enjoyable film.

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars Notting Hill Book
Basically this is a copy of the film script with some additional notes about the film, some photos and allied information.

Wasn't quite what I thought it would be. As a fan of the film it has some interesting content, but if I had known exactly what it it contained I probably wouldn't have bothered purchasing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars exellent read, enjoyed the film then read the book., 27 May 1999

What I like about screenplays is that you read the story as it is in the film with pictures to remind you of scenes. This brings alive the film whilst reading it, generally like this book it includes scenes that were scripted but but not shown, this sometimes gives a different view of what the film may have been like if it had been included. I was reccomend you to buy the book if you enjoyed the film.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely!, 28 Jun 1999

If you like the film - you'll love the book! This illustrated screenplay is gorgeous quality with lovely glossy pictures from the film. It'll bring back what you loved about the film - only it's on paper. An excellent choice for Notting Hill fans.

I had this book this morning and it has gone beyond meeting my expectations. Its the complete screen script and therefore written in that way. But that suits me fine. The phots that are in the book are superb aswell. I cant wait to start reading it. But if you are expecting a story book then you maybe disappointed.

I hadn't seen this film for ages when it came on late one night. I really couldn't be bothered but ended up watching it anyway,(sound familiar?). Anyway, I'm glad I did as some of the lines are just so well written. Then I thought of the other films of Richard Curtis and realised what a great writer he is and what he did for the floundering British film industry back in the early nineties and subsequently what he's produced since.
Notting Hill being one of them, I set about wondering what it would be like to read: what was left out? What was added? Was there a depth to the characters not conveyed on screen? that sort of thing. Richard Curtis is a screen writer rather than a novelist, but to 'read' the film with this book gives it a different, although familiar dimension. It's such a simple story and very British, but the warmth permeates through the humour beautifully. With decriptions of scenes deleted from the film included, it gives you an indepth insight into the trials, tribulations and processes of the creative mind of a screenwriter.

Great script and fascinating intro and extras. Script seems identical to filmed version and so you can happily relive the film in your head in a fraction of the time it takes to see the film.
