This review is from: The Life of Reilly (Paperback)
To call this story a "rom-com" would be unfair. I hate rom-coms and "The life of Reilly" is way above the Romantic-comedy level and is truly entertaining and observational. The author has the wit and snappy writing of Colin Bateman (without the really dark side!) and the skill to capture moods perfectly. Just like in his previous books, I felt that I was reading about real people and not some writer's invention. I loved "Father Frank" and "Untorn Tickets" by the author and I think that this book is easily up to that standard.

This is the sort of book which is ideal for a bit of escapism without getting sloppy or overtly sentimental and I enjoyed it immensly, even occasionally laughing out loud.
