5.0 out of 5 stars An in-depth look at the master-slave relationship in the C19, 19 Feb 2003

This review is from: Mastery and Slavery in Victorian Writing (Hardcover)
This study of mastery and slavery in the nineteenth century is a wide ranging and often eclectic examination of a great many texts. Indeed I found myself being pleasantly surprised by the sheer range of texts being examined. Literature, music, philosophy and a great many contemporary political belief systems are scrutinised. An original and idiosyncratic idea for an academic book which deserves a closer look!
