5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC FOR THOSE STUDYING BLAKE AT A-LEVEL!!, 5 Mar 2002
This review is from: William Blake: The Poems (Analysing Texts) (Paperback)
This is an excellent book which covers all aspects of Blakes poetry including form, structure, language and context. Marsh writes the book in an easy to understand but distinguished way which helps when studying Blake. The book is particularly focused on The Songs of Innocence and Experience and Marsh's analysis of the poems is superb! A must have for any A-Level (particulary A2 Level) As a student myself studying Blake, this book became my bible!

4.0 out of 5 stars Yep it's a winner..., 8 Jun 2005
This review is from: William Blake: The Poems (Analysing Texts) (Paperback)
ok i think the good thing about this book is it is very detailed and is very discriptive about the formation and rhyme etc. in Blake's poetry. BUT if you are not already familiar with the basics of his poetry it does throw you in the deep end quite a bit. However, if you are studying Blake you will probably greatly improve your chances of those higher grades...the choice is yours....

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin, 17 May 2009
This review is from: William Blake: The Poems (Analysing Texts) (Paperback)
With Blake's Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience being part of the AQA and OCR A2 syllabus', this text is aimed squarely at students struggling to understand his (often dense and occasionally nebulous) poetry. It guides you through the poems offering context and interpretation; invaluable for A level Literature students.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic for A Level, 28 Jun 2011

This review is from: William Blake: The Poems (Analysing Texts) (Paperback)
I bought the book having been struggling with my A Level English Literature Blake module. The book was a great help and helped me score an A. The guide is very coherent, with analysis by theme of each poem. Key to A level literature, Marsh makes use of the stylistic and linguistic devices of Blake and reverts meaning to context. My teacher even sent a letter home to my parents after doing extremely well in a Blake presentation (with thanks to the author of course!).
