This book is a guidebook that gives you an essential island tour, educating the reader about the history and culture of the island as well as the best places to see and explore. The guide will also give you a great insight into the lives of Tobagonians and their interesting culture.
A great book to buy and take with you to give you tips on places to visit and things that are worthwhile seeing on the island.

It's a pity that MacMillan decided (I guess that's what happened) not to print this book anymore or update it. This book includes chapters on Tobago and its history, its people, food, festivals, politics, sports and art scene. There is also a full chapter on Tobago's geography, fauna and flora. The book finishes with a chapter focused on three tours around the island, although it assumes that you will have a car at all times because there is no information whatsoever about taxis or public transportation. There are also some hotel recommendations and restaurants, but this is not the focus of the book.
I bought this book previous to a trip to Tobago. It was very useful not only because of the culture and historical aspects of the island, but also concerning what to visit. The beautiful photography throughout the book is a real eye opener to this beautiful island, which has become my favorite destination in the Caribbean. I've checked other guidebooks and I'd say that getting the Rough Guide to Trinidad & Tobago would be a great complement because it compensates the lack of logistics and lodging/eateries information in this Tobago book. However, the Rough Guide isn't as complete as this book concerning history, culture and photography.
