5.0 out of 5 stars A Gruffalo, what's a Gruffalo?
The Gruffalo is one of the best children's book I have ever read!

I bought it when my eldest daughter was 18 months or so and she loved the rhyming and the pictures.

Now she is 5 she can read it alone and she now 'gets' the more adult bits of the books (like the fact that the Gruffalo thinks the animals are scared of the mouse, whilst they're...

3.0 out of 5 stars Audiobook review!
First thing i need to mention is that the reviews listed are for all products and not just the audio book!!
I think that was a little misleading as i look at the number of 5 stars when i buy a product rather than reading through every review, so it gave the impression that this product was much better than it turned out to be. I rarely write reviews but i was...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but expected better, 14 Oct 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Gruffalo (Paperback)
Having already bought a number of books by the same author, I was expecting another masterpiece, however, my 3 year old and I were very disappointed. The pictures in the Gruffalo are very limited and don't give you much to spot/talk about. I was also not impressed with the language...for example "the mouse looked good" would suggest to most young children that the mouse was well behaved, however the author means that the mouse looked good enough to eat. I'm not sure why this book gets so many 5 stars as it is nowhere near as creative as for example The Snail and the Whale, Room on the broom or the absolute firm fave of my daughter...TIDDLER. In my opinion, the Gruffalo is overhyped so don't rush out to buy it.

3.0 out of 5 stars GREAT STUFF!, 2 May 2008
This review is from: The Gruffalo (Paperback)
Characters:
Mouse - he is the main character. He saves himself from being eaten very cleverly.
Fox, Owl and Snake: these three animals are the ones who try to eat the little creature by inviting him back to their individual homes but they become more frightened of him then he is of them...
The Gruffalo - he is an imagination of Mouse; he is also the one who stops Mouse from getting eaten by the several different dangerous animals.

Settings:
The story is set in three parts of the deep dark wood: the first is near the rocks where he meets Fox. The second is by the stream where he bumps into Owl and the final setting is by the lake, where he encounters Snake.

Plot:
Mouse is going to be lunch for three dangerous creatures but he manages to scare them off...

Rating: I would rate it 7/10.
Recommendation: young children aged 4 - 7 and older people to read to them.
