Fluffy Chick is one in a series of books by Rod Campbell, in the 'touch and feel ' series. Colourful, bright and soft, the reader is invited to touch the chick before even opening the pages - what a start for young, enquiring minds ( and hands )
The books takes the reader through a journey around a farm, visiting the animals a child might expect to see, smell and possibly touch during a visit. The double page illustrations are stunning, supported by simple text, encouraging rich conversations between reader and child. What more can any parent ask from a book ! It is a worthy addition in any home.
Fluffy Chicks was the very first book that I bought for my son Hugh, aged 7 months. He enjoyed being read it and soon learn't where in the page to place his little fingers to touch the animals. The delight on his face on discovering the baby chick on the last double page was a delight to behold! My younger son Jack has thoroughly enjoyed the book also - when given a chance to look at it - and is rather taken with the fact that he can stick his finger through the first page !
Fluffy Chicks is a magnificent introduction into the world of books for children ( and babies ). The added bonus of being able to touch and feel the illustrations only adds to this wonderful experience for lively, interested and enquiring minds.
Well done Mr Campbell - another mini masterpiece !
