This review is from: Letter from Reachfar (Hardcover)
A friend of my wifes bought "My friends the Miss Boyds", which was an excellent book. I've been to Cromarty so that helped stir my interest too. Jane Duncan (Janet Reachfar, Janet Sandison, or whatever she called herself) writes about her own experiences and elaborates them in her novels. This works very well. Anyway, this book, "Letter from Reachfar", is a short autobiography, so it is closer to the truth than the Jane Duncan "novels".

When Jane Duncan's novels burst upon the world in the 1960's she was the first author to have seven books accepted at once. She creates a picture of life in the early part of the 20th century through her various "Friends" - do read these books.
