This is the original edition of a book rereleased in this country as A Life Apart. Why do publishers change the names of books in different countries? They must have good reason to take a book that has won a highly prestigious prize in India, and then start it all over again elsewhere with none of the buzz the book has already picked up. It is very hard to believe such a multi layered book is a first novel. It is moving, heart wrenching, honest, and at times shocking. The multi layered plot works well, giving insights into the main character as you need them, rather than just being used as a writing gimmick. This is an author I think we will be meeting again in many other prize shortlists in the future. Lets just hope his publishers stop confusing us by messing around with his book titles. Read him before the bandwagon departs.
