I grew up with this book and it's wonderful to see it in print once again. Causley is the unofficial poet laureate of Cornwall but you don't need to be Cornish to appreciate his mastery of the ballad, comic verse and narrative.
These poems are not just for children, they make you laugh and cry and they demand to be read aloud. Perfect for reading to your children at bedtime (please tell me that there are people who still do that!)and with bright new illustrations. Also they provide a wonderful introduction to Causley's adult poetry which is no less impressive.
It's cheap at the price - every good library should have a copy.
